Quando uma médica descobre que crianças que vivem perto de uma fundição sofrem de intoxicação por chumbo, ela arrisca a carreira e a própria segurança para salvá-las.

Ao descobrir que as crianças que vivem perto da Metalúrgica Szopienice estão sofrendo de envenenamento por chumbo, a jovem médica Jolanta Wadowska-Król tenta salvá-las, confrontando o aparato do estado comunista opressor. Tendo como pano de fundo a dura realidade da região industrial da Alta Silésia na década de 1970, a missão social da Dra. Wadowska-Król baterá de frente com influências políticas perigosas.
